If you are a huge fan of the latest electronic products, you might be tempted by the idea of running your own electronics business online. It is not that hard to get started actually, even if you have no source of products or extra space to store them. What you can do is to take the full advantage of a drop shipping electronics service, and there are plenty for you to choose from these days.

An electronics drop shipper can assist you by providing a wide range of items, store them for you, and deliver to your customers’ doors once you have concluded the deals. As you can see, utilizing a drop shipping service is an affordable means to get involved in the electronics industry without any huge capital investments.

But, you still have work to do as a retailer. On top of everything else, you need to do a thorough market research and have a very good understanding of the latest trends, the availability of the hot products and their cost to you. Popular items today include DVD players, cameras, camcorders, cell phones and car audios, and also keep in mind that particular times of the year, such as the Father’s Day or Christmas, tend to be good for electronics sales. Compared to other products, electronics items tend to have a much higher wholesale cost point and you will need to make sure that the wholesale price is affordable enough so that you can earn a sensible amount of money at the end of the day.

With the basic ideas in mind, you can now get about to select your drop shipper or drop shippers. An easier way to do so is to join a reputable online drop shipping directory services. It may cost you some money, but will save you huge amount of research and the cost of making mistakes.

Once you have formed a list of potential electronics drop shippers, you need to compare their prices and services. Things to be taken into consideration should include the variety of items they can provide you, their handling fee, and the quality of your service. With your market knowledge and some dedication, you should soon be able to narrow down your list to only two or three. If you are just starting out, you may not get a huge volume of business and splitting that small amount between two or three drop shippers may hinder your ability to secure a more competitive price. However, it might be wise just to pay a little extra and test the water between different drop shippers. In the end, you are sure to find your perfect long-term partner.

As you can see for yourself, everyone these days is using some kind of technology to communicate and enjoy entertainment. Selling the latest electronics and running a business based on gadgets and gizmos can be exciting and challenging at the same time. Needless to say, a reliable drop shippers is so key to your online success, and you really need to plan about how to make the most out of drop shipping electronics services.

Getting the best from a headphone review. Listening to my music through a set of quality hi fi home studio stereo speakers is the ultimate for me…at least until the found the other option. I like hearing the mid-range vocals coming out clear and crisp. The bass is something I like to feel as well as hear.

The problem comes when everyone else wants to sleep and I still want to listen to some of my favorite music. In my quest to feed the audiophile inside me, I finally determined headphones were the answer. It was either that or go it alone. But, this presented an entirely new set of problems.

I discovered “these cans” had some a long way since the last time I was looking. I had choices and a lot of them. I could get them with open end or closed end. In my case, I determined closed end would be best so what I was listening to could not go out and disturb anyone around me. It seems with an open can, the sound is still dispersed somewhat into the surrounding area.

I found out about passive and active noise canceling. I had to choose whether I wanted the background noise canceled by just the ear pieces themselves (passive) or were those little electronics inside going to stop the ambient noise (active). This is actually a big question. Because I have a long commute to work, the active noise reducing headphones would make the noise go away. Outside sounds like people talking and appliances running would also have no affect on my streaming audio. I liked this idea. I found makes and types that allowed me to switch between active and passive mode. This was perfect.

In my quest for the best headphones, I ran into a technology I had never heard before about stereo head sets. Bluetooth. What is bluetooth? Wireless? In ear? No cords? You have got to be kidding. This wireless stuff was sounding very interesting. I could move with my music and not land on my keester because I tripped on the cord. All I had to do was buy a wireless set for my stereo and I was good to go. I could move up to 300 feet away and still enjoy my tunes. This meant I could be all over the house and listen to the radio or my favorite CD. I was REALLY liking this option. I can not stand to sit for very long.

Finding all this out about a simple set of headphones made me realize it was not a simple thing and a little more in depth than I initially thought. What else was I to discover?

Well, how about the ultimate in any audiophile’s dream…surround sound. I could get a head unit that gave me true theater quality music with the touch of a button. I have since found out many wireless sets like the Koss, Sony and Sennheiser RS-110, RS-120, RS130 and RS140 from headphonewarehouse.com all have single button surround sound. This was sounding pretty good to me. I learned I could switch from stereo sound to surround sound any time I wanted.

Because of what I was able to find out, I was able to make my choice of the headphones I wanted. They are perfect for me. I am pleased with what I bought. There is a set out there for you, too. Just do some research and some reviews like I did and you can discover a complete listening experience like no other.

A decade ago most of us sat in awe when viewing a huge full color full motion video screen at a professional sports stadium, or at a concert by one of many famous international musical groups. That cutting edge technology is available today at a fraction of the cost of products manufactured ten years ago, and the visual experience is far superior! If your company has an annual advertising budget of $50,000 or more, the question is no longer “can we afford an electronic message center”, it has become “can we afford NOT to invest in an EMC?”.

Consider the following facts from the Small Business Administration:

1) According to the Small Business Administration, sales increase between 15 and 150% when and electronic message center is installed.

2) Electronic message centers allow an unlimited number of message changes and variable controls, all easily completed with a computer. The result is lower labor cost and elimination of the physical liabilities often associated with copy changes on traditional reader boards.

3) Electronic Message centers communicate variable messages as people pass by, allowing greater flexibility in communicating to the public.

4) With their automated dimming and focusing systems, electronic message centers can respond to the visibility needs of the public, increasing safety and conspicuity day and night.

5) The flexibility offered by electronic message centers means your business can advertise specials while also displaying public service information or other items of public interest.

6) Electronic message centers can quickly “brand” your business site in the local community.

7) Electronic message centers are an investment in your business and provide the best and most cost-effective forms of paid advertising. The only form of advertising that may be more powerful is word of mouth (although it can be neither purchased nor controlled).

8) The effectiveness of an electronic message center is not limited by space or surface area constraints as with a reader-board.

9) Electronic message centers act as your “salesman on the street,” attracting new customers to your business location.

10) Electronic message centers allow you to market your products and services to your immediate trade area and prevent wasteful advertising expenses.

11) The business owner can change the message as needed to provide information to specific retail customers, and can be used for political, social or community events.

12) Software is available that enables a business owner to display sophisticated logos or images on the EMC precisely as planned.

An Answer to the Challenge of Changing Demographics

The public – your existing and potential customers – is on the move, both literally and figuratively, and sometimes catching their attention is like hitting a moving target. Consider that approximately 18.6% of Americans move every year. Whether they move a short or long distance, they usually change their basic trade area. Add to that the fact that 15-35% of the traffic on a given street is “just passing through” (vacation travelers and such), and you can see the great potential for single stops by those unfamiliar with the area. An electronic or variable message center offers a unique way to capture the attention of these passers-by. An EMC allows you to communicate more effectively with the typical person passing by at a particular time day by changing the message and graphic of your sign to match the profile on the street. The local airport in Monmouth, NJ offers a clever example of this flexibility. The airport used its display to advertise price specials at peak hours to those traveling by on the freeway on the way to and from work. During shopping hours or after-school traffic, the airport changed its display to offer community service messages. This kind of flexibility increases the readership of a message unit, as it can correspond to the traffic profile by the day of the week, the time of day, or the season. With the right software, virtually any message can be created and displayed. The demand by businesses for these electronic or variable message centers is increasing because these signs improve the economic viability of difficult commercial sites with limited space. Municipalities that wish to prevent urban sprawl or deterioration of urban land are passing enabling acts that require optimization of urban space, and thus are more willing to look at EMCs as a signage option for businesses.

Frequently Asked Questions about EMCs

We have a sign; why does my business need a message center?

Consider for a moment the speed at which traffic passes by the average business. A motorist has only a few seconds to see and comprehend any given sign. For example, on a street with traffic passing at 45 miles per hour, a car that is 500 feet in front of a given sign will have only 7.6 seconds to read the sign before it passes, under normal driving conditions. A business’ sign must be conspicuous if it is to catch the attention of passing motorists within the limited amount of time available. Motorists often spot electronic message centers quickly because the copy changes, the letters are illuminated, and the signs have traditionally been used as public service devices. Additionally, electronic message centers may have greater visibility from further distances, especially in poor lighting conditions , giving the motorist additional time to read the message displayed while safely maneuvering his or her vehicle. Message Centers act as a consolidating type of advertising. In other words, they offer businesses a way of posting a variety of information in one place rather than relying on numerous signs and banners displayed in windows, for example. This can be a real advantage for a business located in a district with strict rules about temporary signs. Most importantly, the electronic message center almost always increases a business’ share of revenue . This is a result of the “branding” of the site through the use of specific logos, reinforcement of other advertising messages, allowing for public service notices, generating exact impulse stops, and helping to change customers’ buying habits once they have stopped.

Is an electronic message center a cost-effective advertising medium?

Yes. Businesses often select their advertising medium, and messages, based upon the cost per thousand exposures of their message to the public. ON this basis, no other form of advertising comes close to matching the efficiency and cost-effectiveness, dollar for dollar, of an electronic message display. Compare the figures below:

· Newspaper advertising – the cost on average is about $7.39 for 1000 exposures within a 10- mile radius of the business location.

· Television advertising – The cost on average is approximately $6.26 per 1000 exposures.

· Radio advertising – The cost is about $5.47 per 1000 exposures.

· New LED electronic message center display – The cost is less than $0.15 per 1000 exposures. How? Assume, for example, that you spend $30,000.00 on this type of system, and that its useful life is about ten years. The amortized daily cost of the message center would equal about $2.74. Add to this the daily cost of electricity for this new LED unit (approximately $0.20), thus giving your business a daily message center expense total of $8.82. With a daily traffic count of 20,000 vehicles passing your business, you would have a cost of less than $0.45 per thousand exposures (counting drivers only)!

Best of all, with an electronic message center, a business does not have to worry about missing its target audience, becoming “yesterday’s news,” or facing expensive production costs for changing its message , as happens frequently with the other forms of advertising mentioned.

With an electronic variable message display:

· The business owns the form of advertising

· The advertising works for the business 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

· The sign acts as the “salesman on the street” attracting customers into the business

· The advertising speaks directly to the potential customers as they drive past the business location, and the EMC makes the business a landmark in its community. Finally, many message center manufacturers provide leasing programs, which include service and maintenance, thereby providing another option for covering the cost of usage.

Please contact the Small Business Administration for more information.

Before you decide that these incredible devices are beyond your scope of understanding or ability to operate, consider the fact that, with a rudimentary understanding of personal computers, within a couple of hours of “hands on” experience you will have a firm grasp of what it takes to run your new electronic message center. If you have the ability to use Microsoft software, electronic message centers will provide little challenge.

A common misunderstanding is that there must be constant communication between your computer and the electronic message center. In reality, this communication is only necessary when the user changes the message schedule, and it takes about 5 seconds for the transmission.

Electronic message centers range from small simple “time and temperature” displays to full color boards with the ability to show movie clips. You may choose between Mono(single color/text only), Gray Scale(single color with varying number of shades that allows basic graphic display), and Full Color, which offers beautiful realistic renderings of just about anything you can visualize!

One of the most exciting parts of owning an electronic message center is the ability to target your advertisements specifically to the potential customer passing in front of your location, by time, date, Holiday, or any other variable you choose… and if you use your imagination, and devise very tempting ads, that customer will come in your door immediately while your ad is still on his mind. Instant gratification!

One of the most frustrating advertising issues is coordinating ad dates with delivery of product. As a business owner, how many times have you spent thousands of dollars to run advertising on a new and exciting product, only to have the supplier “drop the ball”, and not deliver the goods on time? It’s happened to all of us… With your new electronic message center, until you push the “send” button your message doesn’t change.

How about the other side of the coin… A vendor calls and has acquired one of your best selling items at a tremendous savings and wants to get them out of his inventory very quickly. It’s a cash deal, so you want to turn your investment within a short period of time. Your ability to rapidly set up and get ads running on “standard” media is very limited, and could add weeks to the amount of time needed to sell the product. With your new electronic message center, you can target tens of thousands of passersby per day immediately! This provides a real advantage for you, when your competitors don’t own an electronic message center.

Time and temperature and public service messages will draw viewers to your electronic message center. Adding “non-sales” oriented public service messages to your schedule will cause those who use your street as a regular route to become accustomed to turning to look at your sign to get the latest updates, which is exactly what you are trying to accomplish.

Bottom line? You can own an electronic message center for less than the yearly cost of a full page Yellow Pages ad. The cost of a yearlong full coverage television or radio advertising campaign could dwarf the investment made in an electronic message center that will last for years, requires very little maintenance, and runs on standard 110 volt AC current.

The question is no longer “can we afford an electronic message center”… It’s “can we afford NOT to invest in an EMC!”

Electronics Engineering Technology distance learning courses are flourishing, making use of the low entry-level requirement of a 2-year Associate Degree to become an Engineering Technician, and the further career advancement to an Engineering Technologist (or Applied Engineer) possible in the field by pursuing a 4-year Bachelors Degree. Among all Technicians and Technologists working in USA, Electrical and Electronics Engineering professionals make up more than one-third, which is a clear indication for their demand. And this demand is nowadays driven more by the high-tech industry’s need for Electronics Engineering Technicians, rather than the conventional industries’ need for Electrical Engineering Technicians.

Why Electronics Engineering Technology?

All of today’s booming industrial sectors like telecommunications, medical equipment, control systems, automotive systems, navigational systems, and of course, the consumer appliances sector are bringing out everything from mobile phones to home theatres, and require expertise in Electronics Engineering more than anything else, which explains the demand for Electronics Engineering professionals.

However, to attempt the field through an Engineering Degree can be taxing to those students who are not interested in taking advanced level mathematics (calculus) courses that an Engineering Degree requires, or to endure its long 4-year time frame. For such students, Electronics Engineering Technology is a great option, with its stress on applied or hands-on Electronics Engineering rather than the mathematics-dense and research-oriented Electronics Engineering. The time frame also is much shorter, with an Electronics Engineering Technician requiring only a 2-year Associate Degree to enter the field.

The job opportunities too are tilted in favor of Electronics Engineering Technicians when compared with Electronics Engineers; there are 182,000 Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technicians working in USA, compared with only 143,000 Electronics Engineers. The only drawbacks – a lower level in the hierarchy and the lower starting salaries than Electronics Engineers – can be overcome in the long run, since interested Electronics Engineering Technicians can study further for a 4-year Bachelors Degree, thus qualifying for the senior position of Electronics Engineering Technologist, who enjoys a position and salary comparable to Electronics Engineers. Average salary for Electronics Engineering Senior Technicians / Technologists is US $46,000, very comparable to salaries for Electronics Engineers at US $52,000.

Why Electronics Engineering Technology Distance Learning?

It is estimated that job opportunities for Electronics Engineering Technicians and Technologists would grow at up to 17% every year, for nearly the next 10 years. The requirement of an Associate Degree for entering the field is a relatively recent phenomenon, and a significant percentage of working Electronics Engineering Technicians doesn’t have such a formal degree. The industry preference to degree holders is encouraging such working professionals to get an Associate Degree, and electronics engineering technology distance learning becomes the natural choice. Also, due to the boom in the sector, those already having an Associate Degree will go for a Bachelors Degree so that they can work as a Technologist. And, of course, the growth prospects in the sector are attracting working professionals from other fields to Electronics Engineering Technology. These three factors are driving the huge demand for electronics engineering technology distance learning courses.

Earlier, there were technological hindrances to deliver such a hands-on course through a distance or online model. However, with the development of state-of-the-art systems like National Instruments’ LabVIEW/ELVIS (Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite), which can be used by remote students through a web browser, to virtually perform any electronics experiment, the demand for Electronics Engineering Distance Learning courses are at an all-time high.

Universities and Colleges Offering Electronics Engineering Technology Distance Learning

Electronics engineering technology distance learning courses offer both 2-year Associate and 4-year Bachelors Degrees. While Community Colleges and Institutes dominate the Associate Degree scene, Universities and Polytechnics are the primary sources for Bachelors Degrees. While searching for electronics engineering technology distance learning courses, it should be kept in mind that many US institutions still call the subject Electrical Engineering Technology.

Associate Degrees

Many Community Colleges and Institutes offer 2-year Associate Degrees for electronics engineering technology distance learning, but fully accredited courses are fewer. Whether for employment as an Electronics Engineering Technician or for further pursuance of a Bachelors Degree, it is always better to go for an accredited course. Cleveland Institute of Electronics (CIE), Penn Foster Career School, and Grantham University are three institutions that offer accredited Associate Degrees in the subject.

CIE’s Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Electronics Engineering Technology boasts of many unique features. Designed from the ground up as a distance learning course, rather than an online adaptation of a regular course, the CIE A.A.S. provides everything that an electronics engineering technology distance learning student might require, in a packaged fashion – complete with printed courseware for over 250 self-paced lessons, videos, and detailed instructions for the over 300 hands-on lab experiments. The only thing missing will be access to an Oscilloscope, and the CIE Bookstore even sells Oscilloscopes at discounted prices to its students! One-to-one instructor support is always available for students. Even the exams can be taken online. A really unique feature of the course is that interested and capable students can complete the course in half or even quarter time, and need only pay for that!

Penn Foster Career School offers an Associate in Specialized Technology (AST) in Electronics Technology, that can be completed fully online, with access to an internet-connected computer being the only requirement. Tuition includes well-written and amply-illustrated printed courseware, tools and equipment for experiments, and unlimited instructor support through website, phone, email, and regular mail. Online open-book exams and end-of-semester proctored exams are other features of this course. The course is self-paced, with longer than 2-year durations allowed.

Grantham University offers an Associate of Science (AS) in Electronics Engineering Technology through the distance mode. The tuition package for the course includes textbooks, lesson guides, grading of all tests, mailing of materials and graded tests from the college, consultation with instructors, and required software. Proctored exams are conducted at the end of every semester, which lend more credibility to this course. Consultation with instructors is available through phone, fax, email, and regular mail. To better facilitate the distance mode of the course, Grantham University even provides a discounted option for its students to buy computers from Dell. However, the main advantage of this course is that full credit transfer is possible to Grantham’s Bachelors Degree in the subject. Grantham is especially popular with military students.

Bachelors Degrees

When it comes to Bachelors Degrees for electronics engineering technology distance learning, even courses with accreditation from the Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET) are available.

Old Dominion University offers its Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering Technology, with Electrical Engineering Technology as Major, and Electrical Systems Technology as optional. The course name follows the earlier US convention of naming Electronics Engineering courses as Electrical Engineering courses. This B.S. indeed has significant stress on Electronics Engineering Technology. In-depth coverage of Electronics includes Linear Electronics, Digital Controls, Microprocessors, Communications, Control Systems etc. High-tech delivery methods like virtual laboratory, streaming video, and satellite broadcast for 1-way video and 2-way audio, are fully utilized. The course is accredited by TAC of ABET.

World College, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Cleveland Institute of Electronics (CIE), offers a Bachelor of Electronics Engineering Technology (BEET) through the distance mode. Features include over 300 lab experiments, online exams, and toll free phones and email for consultation with instructors. Subjects covered include Electronics, Computer Technology, Telecommunications, Electrical Power, and Control Systems. Access to a computer and an oscilloscope are necessary.

Grantham University (described above, under Associate Degrees) also offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electronics Engineering Technology.

The only current limiting factor for electronics engineering technology distance learning seems to be the high costs for implementing virtual labs that can be simultaneously accessed by a large number of students, and once this is solved by better and economical hardware and software, electronics engineering technology distance learning will be provided by more and more Universities, Colleges, and Polytechnic Institutes.

Thinking about switching to green housing based on solar panel electricity? In this case, there are many factors to consider, in order to choose the most suitable solar panals for your home.

Solar Panel Electricity: Important Tips To Consider While Buying Solar Panals

1.   Cost

The first important factor to consider is the cost which depends on the size (in Watts), the durability / longevity, warranty period, the brand and any possible certifications the solar cell come with. But considering the price alone would not be smart, because it might not fit your house.

2.   Longevity / Durability / Warranty

The durability/longevity or warranty period of a solar cell is also essential to consider. Try to buy those generators which come with long warranty period. It is recommended to buy a solar panal which has at least a 10 year warranty. But if you are going to install the green energy system in a critical environment, you will need PV cells with at least a 25-year warranty period to minimize risk.

3.   Size and Wattage

As you guess, the size of the solar cell in Watts will surely affect your costs, because solar panals are usually priced in dollars per Watt. So first, you have to determine how much solar power you need in your house.

Conclusion:

Solar panel electricity can be set up at an affordable price, if you consider the above-mentioned factors while buying solar panals. Buying expensive solar system is not always the best option. The right solution is to choose the most suitable system for your needs.

Electric Cigarette Roller Reviews

You’ve tried all of the quit smoking methods in the book, and no success, right? Patches, gums, medications, and quitting cold turkey is damn near impossible. Maybe you’ve even started to think about the laser treatment, acupuncture, hypnosis or some other method that is guaranteed to make you give up the habit.

The fact of the matter is that giving up the habit cold turkey has the best success rates, and it blows all other methods out of the water. Yes, it’s tough from the start and there’s a good chance you will suffer and even fail from the get-go. But if you can tough it out, the long-term success rates are incredible. When compared to the other quit smoking methods, nothing compares to kicking the habit cold turkey 6 months down the road. The chances of you ever lighting up another smoke are slim to none.

So you have to ask yourself, are you willing to endure a little discomfort up front to make sure you never smoke again? Or are you just trying to kid yourself and don’t really want to quit smoking? Because if you use any other method, that’s what you’re telling yourself. You’re giving yourself an opportunity to “quit smoking” in the short term, but chances are you wont’ last. Electric Cigarette Roller Reviews

The thing is, when done correctly, the cold turkey method is not any worse off than any of the other methods. In many cases is less strenuous. When you know the techniques and strategies to naturally reduce the desire for nicotine and eliminate any discomfort, it’s a piece of cake. Quit smoking drugs, on the other hand, have side effects that really put you in a position that is worse off than if you used nothing. Who wants to deal with nausea, vomiting, impaired vision, increased bowl movements, headaches and insomnia just to name a few.

Nicotine replacement therapy doesn’t exactly help either. After all, you’re just continuing to feed your addiction by injecting nicotine into your body in a different form. Yes, it is healthier than smoking because it doesn’t effect the lungs, but you never get over the actual addiction. Then what happened when you’re out of patches one day but your friend can help you out with a smoke. All of a sudden you’ll find yourself buying a carton of cigarettes at the gas station.

You can do this without having to use supplements or drugs, and there are ways to greatly reduce any withdrawal symptoms. Once you know these strategies and decide to use the most effective quit smoking habit, you’ll be surprised at how painful people make it out to be. It really isn’t that difficult of an addiction to tackle when handled correctly. It’s just a matter of having the right plan and being disciplined to follow out that plan. You’ll be happy you did. 2008 has almost drawn to a close and its time for the world as a collective whole to draw breath gather its thoughts and throw out those lists of changes in the year that made people sit up and take notice.

While the first half of the year could have been called a Mac(intosh) attack (first there was the Macbook Air, then the 3G iPhone) and the second half of the year was the approaching ecopocalypse there was still other news and gadgets out there that caught people’s attention.

Here’s what we thought were the memorable gadgets to come out of Asia for 2008…

Asus Eee Netbooks

It could be their size, their price or the fact that, for a while, the makers of Eee laptop line put the Linux operating system on their laptops above windows and OSX but you didn’t have far to come accross a release about this Taiwanese company this year.

The latest entry onto the market were two models which made everything thinner and added a 3G modem in the November release of the Eee PC S101, Eee PC 1002H captured almost as much attention as the start of the year.

HTC G1

Much of the buzz around the HTC G1 surrounded the Google Android operating software (which was actually being worked on by a US company called Android before Google bought the company in 2005 and worked them into the team) announced in November 2007.

However, Taiwanese company HTC, (better known beforehand for touch phones like the HTC touch and computers like the HTC Shift) was the first off the line when it came to making the hardware to go along with the software.

Many of the reviews of the HTC G1 have been mixed so far but signs are improving.

Chinavasion Projector Phone

2008 was very much the year for phones and the Chinavasion projector phone was another that grabbed the attention from a lot of people. This could have come from two places…

Pico projectors were just as much hot property as cell phones with companies vying to be the first to release a commercial pico projector and gadget blogs trying to guess when that would happen.

3M looked like it was going to be first in line to get the mass produced projector onto the market when Chinavasion did more than beat them to the post. It did a little web 2.0 mash up to create a cell phone/projector.

Mind you, given the current Chinavasion track record, perhaps it is not such a surprise.

Softbank 823SH Tiffany

Japan, famous for their love of cell phones, gadgets and anything strange.

So it should come as no surprise when a Japanese phone provider, Softbank Mobile went “ecopocalypse what ecopocalypse?” and put out a smart phone with a case made completely of silver and diamonds from New York jewelers ‘Tiffanies”

The Softbank 823SH Tiffany has 537 diamonds, weighing 18.34 carats, encrusted in the case and cost around the 13 million yen mark (that’s 130,265 dollars to US dwellers). If you want one better get your skates on because according tothe company only 10 will be made initially.

Pyocotan’s Noriko San Goggles

While we’re on the topic of ‘aint Japan strange’ this piece of technology hit the interwebs around October. The length of time people spend commuting in Japan isn’t exactly anything new, neither is the fact that people go to sleep on commutes and miss their stop.

Japanese hacker, Pyocotan, came up with a new spin on the old-fashioned sign around the neck and the smell of cheap booze, Noriko-san googles which showed off the destination you were heading to… would people wake you up though?

Cassette MP3 Player

While launched by the company Chinavasion in late 2007 the Cassette MP3 player didn’t really capture the blogger’s attention until the start of the next year. Once people grabbed the idea they held onto it and for at least 12 months it was on somebody’s lips somewhere.

Perhaps the success of this MP3 player was that it was cheap, cute and let people use equipment that might have been destined to be sold out of the boots of cars at flea markets and underneath motorway overamps.

Styson i Knock

Another cheap and cheerful gadget from the greater China area (OK Taiwan) is the i-Knock. This gadget would be handy for the ’social networking set’ hooked to their Facebook pages and instant messaging services it knocks itself out (and plays a tune if you program it nicely) every time you get an instant message. The perfect place for any unused photos of the ex-girlfriend/ex-boyfriend

Hopefully the end of 2008 will herald the end of the i- movement. This vowel movement makes me want to punch babies.

Samsung Touch Sight

While still in concept stage this would definitely have to be one of the coolest things to come out this year. The Touch Sight is a camera for the blind that takes a picture using braile and sound which owners can store and share with friends.

Chinavasion Super Cool Mobile Phone Wrist Watch

The cell phone watch idea has been for a long time, ever since a 1946 Dick Tracy strip at the very least, but it really didn’t hit the market until half-way through this year.

This cool cell phone watch was the start of a torrent of wrist phones and the wonderful realisation of the childhood dreams of many middle-aged men.

Tokyo Flash Watch

There hasn’t been too many months go by that one of these watches didn’t turn up in the gadget blogs.

They require special knowledge to work out, they use digital time if they don’t and they’re silver… it’s a wonder they weren’t first thought up in the 80’s

Electronic Smokes

If you are reading this, then you have probably figured out that it is time to quit smoking. Maybe, if you are like most people, you have tried to quit many times in the past and failed. Most people will fail on their first time, their second time, and many more times before they finally either find a way to do it once and for all, or they just give up and resolve to keep on smoking for the rest of their lives. The good news is, though, that if you are truly interested in learning how to get rid of the cigarettes, there are quit smoking programs available for you.

The problem with most quit smoking programs is that they all assume that you have made a firm decision to quit smoking. Most people haven’t when they first try. They may want to quit, but that doesn’t mean that they have decided to actually do it. Many people, when they quit the first time, do so only intending to resume smoking at a later date, usually planning on smoking fewer cigarettes, or just on a social basis. But, most of us can’t smoke just socially (once or twice a week, and only a few cigarettes at a time). Many of us succumb to the addiction of nicotine very quickly and once we have one cigarette, it is all but over. Electronic Smokes

Methods like the nicotine patch or nicotine gum can work, but you have to be fully dedicated both to quitting smoking, and then to quitting the use of nicotine. After all, the only purpose of the patch and the gum is to provide you nicotine in another form. They do nothing to break your addiction to the drug. All they really do is get you used to not having something in your mouth or your hands.

As it happens, the most successful way to quit smoking is actually to just quit. Once you have made a conscious decision to stop smoking, and realize that there is no way that you want to go on with cigarettes as part of your life, you will find that quit smoking programs are pointless. The only one that really works is cold turkey – give it up once and for all. Patches, gums, pills, and all kinds of herbal techniques will never work until you actually decide to seriously quit once and for all. Electronic Smokes

Posted by: Mr Hide in Green Energy on July 28th, 2010

Many people dream of becoming energy independent. They see green energy sources not only as a way to greatly reduce their energy bills each month, but they also see it as a way to power their homes in a way that does not burn the Earth’s resources, and does not harm the environment.

The green energy sources that are the most popular are solar energy and wind energy. While there are other forms of green energy, these are the most popular because they are the two sources that are the most readily available. You do not have to relocate to take advantage of these sources, and they are both relatively inexpensive to get started with. While making a complete change-over in your home can be a serious investment, it is possible to get stated on a smaller scale, and make a gradual change-over as you can afford to.

Solar Energy

The most popular form of green energy is solar energy. It collects sunlight using solar panels that convert that light into electricity. One reason this is so popular is because the system, once in place, is relatively low maintenance. Other than keeping the solar panels clean, there is not much to do to keep your solar energy system running. Because there are not any moving parts to wear out, breakdowns do not typically happen with this type of system.

The disadvantage of a solar energy system is that it requires a lot of direct sunlight to see real benefits from the system. If you are unfortunate enough to live in an area that has considerable cloud cover on a regular basis you may not see the same benefits as someone living in a sunny location.

That does not mean that you should discount solar energy as a good energy source, it just means you will need to take steps to make the most of the times the sun is shining brightly. By increasing the number of panels you will be able to generate more energy in a shorter period of time. If you have your solar generators hooked to a battery system, you will be able to capture that extra energy to use at night, or on cloudy days.

Wind Energy

Another green energy source that has gotten quite a bit of attentions is wind energy. This form of energy harnesses the power of using propellers that turn a turbine which creates electricity. The good part about modern wind powered turbines is that they do not require a lot of wind to operate them. A steady breeze is often enough to turn the blades and begin generating electricity. Of course, the more wind you have, the quicker you will be able to generate significant amounts of electricity.

Unlike solar systems, you are not limited by the time of day for generating power. These systems will work day or night. Like the solar energy systems, you can hook a wind powered generator to a battery systems so you will have a steady supply of energy.

The biggest disadvantages of a wind energy systems is that the turbine does require more space that the solar cells, and are not as easily incorporated into the design of a house. A wind turbine also requires more maintenance that solar energy systems. It has more moving parts so you need to perform scheduled maintenance on the system to reduce the chances of a breakdown.

Green energy sources are a great way to reduce your carbon footprint without having to do away with many of the conveniences of modern life. You can lower your energy bills, and be more environmentally friendly in the process.
